Your driver meets you at the port exit at Livorno at an agreed time — typically between 8:00 and 8:30 — and takes you directly to Florence. The journey is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes in normal traffic. You arrive in the city before the tour groups and the queues.

Most guests begin with the leather market at San Lorenzo — one of the most concentrated outdoor leather markets in Italy, directly outside the Basilica di San Lorenzo and the Mercato Centrale. From there, the streets open into the historic centre. Via de' Tornabuoni is Florence's most prestigious shopping street — Gucci, Prada, Armani, Ferragamo, Bulgari, all within a few hundred metres. Via della Vigna Nuova runs parallel and carries the same calibre of names with slightly fewer crowds. Via Calzaiuoli, connecting the Duomo to Piazza della Signoria, is the central axis — a mix of international brands and Florentine retailers.

For those who want the Florentine artisan experience, the Oltrarno neighbourhood — across the Ponte Vecchio on the south bank of the Arno — is where the workshops are. Leather bookbinders, frame makers, goldsmiths, hand-sewn glove makers. This is the part of Florence that has not changed its character since the Renaissance. Your driver knows the area and can suggest the most worthwhile stops depending on what you are looking for.

If your priority is the luxury outlets rather than the city boutiques, your driver can take you directly to The Mall Firenze — approximately 35 kilometres from Florence, with Gucci, Prada, Bottega Veneta, Valentino, Loro Piana and others at outlet prices. The Mall opens at 10:00. Alternatively, Barberino Designer Outlet, north of Florence near the Apennines, offers a wider selection of brands across a larger format. Both are reachable within the day from Livorno and can be combined with time in the city if timing allows.
